Henley Regatta

Rowing clubs were racing on the Thames at Henley Reach for many years, so eventually the town council decided to create an annual event. Henley Regatta was started in 1839 when it was raced on a single afternoon, and when it was attended by a member of the Royal Family it became Henley Royal Regatta. It has since expanded to a 5 day event and is now the largest and most famous regatta in the world.
There are colour photos elswhere here

This is the best guide site I know of,

it's funny in a very English, tongue-in-cheek way, but still completely true. Definitely worth a read.

I love the outfits, and the high heels...... well remember the days when I could wear them all day and dance all night in them...... those days are gone......

    Strides and stripes altered
well, I think it is even better than the previous one but maybe it can have even more real black????
I am a bit weird about B&W...I know! LOL
BTW...I am very flattered that you tried it...!

The problem with adjusting an existing picture to achieve "real black" is that it comes with "real white" as part of the package and if you go too far, what you finish up with doesn't look like a photo anymore. I guess thats the skill of taking the original photograph.
Oh well, I'll just keep trying :)

    Strides and stripes
I think this shot has great potential, I might like to see a bit more contrast and maybe the flag pole on the right removed so the stripes are not disturbed by anything...a classical picture

He's a competitor! He's just climbed out of a racing skiff and nearly dead from heat exaustion! It's the two ladies who are out of place in his opinion. :)

I know Peter, it was just because he was the only one dressed like that in this shot that it looked funny...
