Madeira

Portuguese island about 300 miles off the North West coast of Africa.
Sub-tropical, rises 6,000 ft (1800m).
African Lillies grow wild beside the road, like weeds.
For a map showing the location click the small globe next to the "Widgets" tab.

I like that-a sharp contrast and little soft yellow leaf.

I saw this photo after seeing the b/w version.
The other one is much better.
Here the foliage is normally green and is too normal.

hahaha, I knew this is a Strelitzia...but not the reginae bit...It is my mother in laws favourite flower so this is not a difficult one...:) In Dutch it is called a Paradijsvogelbloem....a Birds of Paradise flower!
I have done a few courses on garden design etc.. many years ago as I wanted to design my own garden so I remember a few, the only problem is they changed the official Latin names a few times in the past years!
